Last night Jordan and I began the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University. I must say I do think Dave is a little drastic, but I really have allot of financial goals for the next 5 months so we are going to really stick with his plan. We have tried to do Dave's methods on our own in the past and we have been successful with some and not with others. So last week when I heard that our church was offering the class we signed up.
I want to document this journey, and I figured why not do it on my blog. I will try to be as honest as possible and share with you what works for us. One thing that I have been wanting to do since we found out we are expecting is to be able to afford to harvest the cord blood and put it in a private bank. The reason this is so important to me is that auto immune diseases run in my family, and I feel that one day the cord blood might be a cure for some if not all of these diseases. Well the private banks cost over $1000, which we don't have to spare. So I am going to make this my priority of our savings during these next few months. We currently don't save much if anything. It just depends on the month. We also are very bad about following a budget. We make one and then we stick to it for a month and then the next month we forget about it. So we are going to try to focus more on our budget, and have weekly budget meetings to see where we stand.
I'm scared, nervous, and very excited about these next 13 weeks. At the end of this class I will share how much debt we have paid off and how much we have been able to save. Also, I will share with you what ammenities we have to go without. Wish us luck! I just hope we don't hurt each other this first month :)

I'm jealous! I've been wanting to take that class for a while! My husband and I have paid off a lot since we've been married, but we still have some things to go. Like you, we (me!) have a hard time following a budget. I'm looking forward to your posts...hopefully I'll learn something. :)
