Today I am thankful for my job. I know on a rainy day like this I would give just about anything to stay in bed all day especially since Jordan didn't have to work, but I am so thankful that I have a job to get up and go to. In this economy we should all be thankful for the income our family has. I have been very lucky when it comes to employment. I got my first job while finishing college and started a week after graduation. I LOVED this job at first. It was fun and I got to travel. This travel went from two to three times a year to multiple trips a month. Well this would have been great if I didn't have a family sitting at home waiting for me. So I began to search for other jobs. Luckily there was one posted in Muscle Shoals. This I knew was a God thing. Jordan and I had wanted back home, and when you major in Geography you just have to go where the jobs are. They definately don't come to you. Well this job turned out to be such a blessing. I have met some of the greatest people here, and some of these people will be my best friends for life. This job also provides me with the benefits we needed to start a family. I have 12 weeks maternity leave! At my last job all I had was my vacation/sick leave and short term disability. Which would have been fine but come on who wants to live on 60% of their salary when they just had a baby? Not me! So I am very thankful for the benefits and people at this job. Also, I do get to travel some. The scary thing to me is this travel is international and usually I will be going alone. Currently I have a trip to Africa on the backburner that keeps being pushed back. Today I have gotten word they want me to come in January. EEK I have to call my Dr. and see if I can even have the shots. If not looks like they will be waiting until next fall and then Baby Ray gets to go to Africa! lol (my mom says she is going with me and taking the baby).
I know we all have days where we hate our jobs or just really don't want to work. Even if you don't work you may not want the hubby to get up and leave for work. It is always nice to have a few days at home with nothing to do, but we need to try and see the up side in this having to get up and be somewhere early each day. I personally can't wait until 4:15 shows up on my clock, but I do thank the Lord that I have this desk and office to come to. Oh that is another perk about this job. I get my own office with REAL walls!!! No more cube land :) I was very happy about this. I just wish I could paint. Everything in this office is institutional nasty cream color. I look forward to many more years of sitting in this office. Since mandatory retirement age here is 65 looks like I have 38 more years! Maybe by then I will get a window that actually looks outside :)

I have to remind myself to be thankful for my job. Like you said, in this economy, we should all be thankful for any paying job.
I have a teeny tiny office, but no windows. I hate not having windows!! :o(
